What is IOP?

Structured therapy that fits around your life.

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides structured therapy several days per week while allowing you to continue living at home. It offers more support than traditional weekly therapy but does not require residential treatment.

Our virtual Day/Evening Programming in New Hampshire and Vermont includes:

  • Structured group therapy sessions
  • Individual counseling
  • Medication management, when appropriate
  • Peer recovery coaching
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Holistic support services

The goal is meaningful clinical depth while maintaining flexibility and autonomy.

Life doesn't stop for recovery

You don't have to disappear to get help.

Recovery should not require you to step away from your job, your children, your education, or your responsibilities. Whether you're a working professional, a parent juggling school drop-offs and meetings, or a college student balancing coursework and life transitions, our fully remote IOP provides the clinical support you need without disrupting your world.

Why choose our virtual IOP

Every barrier removed.

Traditional in-person programs can require commuting, rigid scheduling, and stepping away from work or family. Pathfinder Recovery removes those barriers.

100% virtual

Attend securely from home by smartphone, tablet, or computer. No commuting, no waiting rooms, no added stress.

Evening-focused

Our evening schedule is designed for adults who work or care for family during the day. Structured treatment without sacrificing your career or family routine.

Flexible & personalized

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Your treatment plan is built around your goals, needs, and availability.

Accessible

We work with insurance providers whenever possible and help verify benefits so you understand your options clearly.

You don't have to choose between getting help and keeping up with life. With Pathfinder Recovery, you can do both.

A different kind of virtual IOP

Purpose-built for virtual, not adapted to it.

Most virtual programs simply replicate an in-person model over video. Pathfinder Recovery was designed differently, from the ground up.

Our virtual IOP is built around how recovery actually works: through nervous system regulation, emotional safety, identity change, skill development, and sustained connection. Not just education or compliance.

Beyond Zoom groups: a stage-based model

We follow a progressive, stage-based clinical model that intentionally supports:

  • Stabilization and early withdrawal support
  • Understanding the neurobiology of addiction and brain healing
  • Emotional regulation and coping skill development
  • Trauma-informed identity repair
  • Values-based decision making
  • Relapse prevention without shame
  • Long-term recovery planning and transition

Each phase builds on the last. Clients don't just learn concepts, they practice skills in real time and integrate them into daily life. This is not a rotating set of generic groups. It's a structured, clinically sequenced pathway toward sustainable recovery.

Who it's for

Adults across New Hampshire and Vermont facing:

01

Substance use challenges

Alcohol misuse, opioids, stimulants, and other substance use disorders.

02

Co-occurring conditions

Anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other mental health concerns alongside addiction.

03

Trauma & relapse triggers

Trauma-related symptoms and stress-related relapse triggers requiring integrated care.

If you have stable housing and access to a smartphone or computer, our virtual model can meet you where you are. If you're still questioning if this level of support is right for you, we're happy to walk you through your options and find care that fits, even if it's not with us.

Treatment modalities

Evidence-based therapies combined with holistic support.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT identifies and shifts harmful thought patterns that contribute to substance use or emotional distress, and teaches practical tools for managing triggers and stress.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT strengthens emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, skills essential for long-term recovery.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Our clinicians use motivational approaches to help you clarify your goals and strengthen internal motivation for change.

  • Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Recovery doesn't exist in isolation. We treat both substance use and mental health conditions together. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other concerns are addressed alongside recovery goals.

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

When appropriate, our medical team provides at-home detox and withdrawal support, including MAT to support stability and reduce cravings.

  • Trauma-informed care

Nervous system regulation, Polyvagal-informed practices, shame-informed relapse prevention, attachment-aware relationship work, and identity rebuilding.

88%

Of our clients are still engaged in care.

That's what trust, consistency, and individualized support look like. When treatment fits your life, you stay.

Evening scheduling changes everything

Recovery on your schedule, not the program's.

Evening scheduling is not an afterthought. It's a core feature. We understand:

  • You may work traditional business hours
  • You may have childcare responsibilities during the day
  • You may feel more comfortable engaging in treatment privately in the evening

Our evening virtual IOP is designed for practical application, not passive listening. You attend structured sessions after work, then immediately apply what you learn in real time, at home, at work, and in your relationships, with clinical support guiding you along the way.

This model allows you to: maintain employment, stay present for your children, continue your education, protect your privacy, reduce financial strain, build personalized relapse-prevention plans, and develop coping hierarchies for high-risk moments.

Because recovery does not happen in a group room. It happens in everyday moments. Recovery should fit into your life, not the other way around.

Technology that enhances care

Virtual doesn't mean distant.

Pathfinder Recovery is a tech-enabled provider. Clients in our IOP may benefit from:

  • Secure telehealth sessions
  • Direct messaging with care teams
  • Progress tracking tools
  • Optional biometric monitoring through our Smart Ring technology
  • Daily mood and symptom tracking

By combining self-reporting with technology, our care team recognizes patterns early and adjusts support proactively. Virtual care doesn't mean distant care. It means responsive, connected care.

Frequently asked

Answers to the questions people ask most.

What's the difference between IOP and regular outpatient therapy?

Regular outpatient therapy usually involves one session per week. An intensive outpatient program (IOP) includes multiple structured sessions weekly, providing deeper support and accountability.

Is your IOP really fully virtual?

Yes. All therapy sessions, group meetings, and medical appointments are conducted securely online. You can attend from home.

Are evening sessions available?

Yes. Our virtual evening IOP in New Hampshire and Vermont is specifically designed for adults who work during the day or have family responsibilities.

Who qualifies for IOP?

Adults 18+ experiencing substance use or co-occurring mental health challenges may qualify. A confidential assessment will determine if IOP is appropriate for you.

Can I work while enrolled in IOP?

Absolutely. Our evening scheduling allows most clients to maintain employment or attend school while participating.

Do you accept insurance?

We work with various insurance providers and can verify your benefits at no cost to you.

Is medication-assisted treatment available?

Yes. MAT may be incorporated into your IOP plan when clinically appropriate.

What if I need more support than IOP?

If you require a higher level of care, such as virtual detox, we can coordinate services within our continuum or provide referrals.

How long does IOP last?

Program length varies depending on individual needs but often ranges from several weeks to a few months.

What makes Pathfinder different from other virtual IOPs?

Unlike programs that host group sessions online, Pathfinder offers a structured, stage-based clinical curriculum with integrated medical support, peer coaching, trauma-informed care, and biometric monitoring. Our virtual IOP is designed to provide depth, accountability, and personalization, not passive screen time.
